AFCON 2019: Race For The Golden Boot

AFCON 2019: Nigeria's Odion Ighalo leads Golden Boot race ahead of Sadio Mane.
The Golden Boot is awarded to the player who scores most goals in the tournament. Ties are settled by assists, then by minutes per goal. Currently Nigeria's Odion Ighalo leads the Golden Boot race ahead of Sadio Mane.

In AFCON tournament there are four players who are tied on three goals each, ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations semi-final fixtures. They are: Odion Ighalo (Nigeria), Cédric Bakambu (Congo DR), Sadio Mane (Senegal) and Adam Ounas (Algeria). However, only three are still in the race to win the Golden Boot, as Bakambu’s country has been eliminated in the Round of 16.

The Super Eagles were investing hope in Ighalo, but unfortunately, they lost against Algeria on Sunday, while Mane is the Teranga Lions’danger man that still remaining after defeating Tunisia. Ounas and Riyad are in action when Algeria clashed with Nigeria 2-1 to earn a place in the AFCON final.
