Ricardo ‘Bucksy’ Mannetti was just 15 years old when he became the first youngest footballer in the Namibian sport history to play at the highest level. The former midfielder of Civics F.C (1997) made his debut for the Brave Warriors during the most celebrated game between Namibia and Zimbabwe at Windhoek’s Independence Stadium way back in 1991 where Zimbabwe hammered by 4-0. He was among the first group of local footballers joined the paid ranks and signed the contract with South African Premier League' Football Clubs in Cape Town in 1997.  Ricardo has been playing with Santos F.C. for over five years. Relationship & Family

Brumelda is well-groomed woman: Brumelda firstly met Ricardo at the Birthday party of his ex-girlfriend in Windhoek, but no sparks flew at that time. The true chemistry of love only happened a year later when the two once again bumped into each other in Cape Town. Ricardo was playing soccer with Santos F.C. and ''Brumie or Bruci'' (as affectionately known by her friends) was studying in South Africa to become a medical doctor. With Home sick, Brumelda set aside her dislike for soccer players because “in Namibia we are far apart from each other but once you find each other abroad, it's like this person is Namibian so you hang out”. said Brumelda.

After dating for 15 years and  later have a blessing of 3 kids, the couple finally tied the knot in December 2016. Brummelda she living a testimony for marrying to the much-loved Namibian sportsman. ''Life takes us on the scenic route, not so straightforward route'' And this describes the journey of these soulmates for discovering one another. The story of these two lovebirds includes heartache, sacrifice, understanding and much common cause for the celebration.

The relationship is very formidable in what we could describe as a feat; they achieved without ever breaking up after spent more than a decade and a half together. Brummelda describing herself as a free spirit, she shares some secrets she had no intention to get married until she was thirty.  ''I wanted to travel the world and also I was very disciplined so I first wanted to do everything that I could before I would get married''.

Brummelda said married to Ricardo Mannetti “Oh it’s a rollercoaster, because the Ricardo that the public knows is not my Ricardo Mannetti. The public sees him as one-dimensional but at home Ricardo is just a family man. Honestly, he is my best friend, always been.” Described as a very good father, Ricardo does everything with his three daughters aged 22, 7 and 3.

But as with all of us, this couple also experienced their fair share of pain. And this was when their baby boy passed away after living for only a month. ''It was a horrible time, I think up to now I’ve dealt better with it than he has, he can’t even talk about it because the boy was a splitting image of his dad, a little mini Ricardo Mannetti''.  Brummelda lamented.  The boy was born prematurely, he was hospitalised for 22 days. If we had this conversation in front of Ricardo, he will just walk out.

Brummelda also revealed how the family cope especially during Ricardo’s busy schedule of travelling without them. She describes herself as a Damara woman who does things properly as a woman, she also admitted that it's not so easy. Herself she working in a demanding job with a fully fledged theatre of responsibilities. Brummelda shares that she goes onto auto-pilot. From getting kids off to school in the morning, looking after parents, to cooking at night, chores and shopping, “I get it done”.

In December 2017, when loved ones enjoyed Christmas parties and quality family time, the Mannetti's lady had to do it alone as Ricardo was also preparing for CHAN (African Nations Championship) he spent most of January away with the Brave Warriors in Morocco. But he compensates more for it upon his return.

A deeply spiritual couple, Ricardo always prepare prayer for the games or even go on fasting. He understands that everything is in God’s hands. When the team performs below expectation, Ricardo turns to music with his headphones on.The family knows when to leave him alone until he is fine.  Ricardo loves Brave Warriors and dedicated most of his precious time and effort to see it winning.

Brummelda asserted with confidence that she is eternally proud of Ricardo as her husband and she claims to be his number one fan. A man of substance, God fearing, a man who places family above everything else—that is my husband Ricardo Mannetti.” Beaming with optimism, Brummelda concludes that the future is bright, notwithstanding that Ricardo’s contract expire on 30 July 2019. “We will always manage somehow, I am excited and always says who would have said”.
