Liverpool have received a huge boost ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton this weekend after Sadio Mane, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip all returned to training today.

Mane and Thiago have been in self-isolation after contracting coronavirus, but are now back in action at Melwood after returning negative tests. The forward has been pictured back at the club’s training base 10-days after Liverpool confirmed the Senegal international had tested positive for Covid-19.

The announcement came just days after the Reds had confirmed that summer signing Thiago had also tested positive for the virus. While Joel Matip is another player who could return in time for the derby this weekend, after he was also pictured joining in the session at Melwood today.

Matip has featured for just 75 minutes in the Premier League in the last 11 months after a succession of injury problems, with his most recent being a muscle problem. However, Sadio Mane return to training could hand Liverpool the perfect boost heading into this weekend’s game, with the Reds currently trailing their neighbours by three points in the Premier League table. Joining the trio in this afternoon’s session were the likes of Mohamed Salah and James Milner, with the workout overseen by Jurgen Klopp and his backroom team.
