Peter Shalulile is looking forward to taking his Mamelodi Sundowns goalscoring form into Namibia’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier with Guinea on Sunday.

The Brave Warriors are currently third in Group A with just three points after one win and three defeats and lie behind Mali and leaders Guinea, who have 10 and 11 points.

Peter Shalulile is Mamelodi Sundowns’ joint-top scorer alongside Temba Zwane, with eight goals from 16 matches, and knows he needs to be in form for his country if they are to salvage their qualification campaign.

He told the Namibian: “Our preparations have been going well; there are a few new faces in the camp, but we are all pulling in the same direction and aim, which is to win this game on Sunday.

“We are looking forward to the game, because it will mean a lot to us to get the three points – it will put us in a good position on the log where we could see ourselves going to the Afcon finals in Cameroon.”

Peter Shalulile also praised Under-23 stars Steven Damaseb, Prins Tjiueza and Amazing Kandjii following their inclusion in the squad.

“They are quality boys and you have to have such boys in the team for the future, because we won’t be here for long. They are really pushing hard, they are doing great and I’m very happy for them and for the coach for bringing them in,” he said.
